WattNet serves the internet business to business needs of the various industries and audiences that WATT Publishing Co. serves as publisher of business information. The WattNet site(s) allow our clients to interact with each other in common areas of business interest. While registration is free to all, the content of the sites presumes the viewer has a business interest or relationship with the industries served by the site.

The registration and demographic information you provide us is used to define your relationship to the industries that we serve. It is used within this context to build relationships with others who share a common business interest with you. The information is also used to facilitate and personalize your use of the site.

Our success is dependent on building and maintaining your goodwill. Hence we are committed to implementing measures designed to protect your privacy as you use our services. We also accept our responsibility to set examples and help establish standards for privacy on the internet.

What information does WattNet ask for and how is it used?
When you register for WattNet you will be asked to provide certain information, such as your name and contact information. We ask for this in connection with registrations, promotions, and purchases, WattNet and other Watt Publishing entities will use this information to tailor their presentations to you, facilitate your movements throughout the sites, provide personalized services, and communicate separately with you.

In addition, each site owner asks demographic questions the first time you enter their site and may occasionally update this information. These questions may be different from site to site and are designed to provide a business profile of our users. These profiles may then be used to direct appropriate services to members who will benefit from them.

Do I get to choose what information I disclose?
Yes, in two ways: 1. You can always choose whether or not to disclose information when registering. Certain information is required for registration, but other requested information is optional and may be given at your discretion. Required information is so indicated on the registration form. We encourage members to provide complete and accurate information in order to facilite their use of site services and to provide third parties complete infomation when responding to requests from members. This information is provided when you use our sites to get product information or to post classified ads or to subscribe to magazines. In these cases you are given an opportunity to review the information being sent before sending it.

We use "cookies" and other methodologies to let you use our services more easily, and to let us keep track of certain statistical information that helps us improve our site. .

We also use tracking softwares to record file downloads and member click throughs off of ads or strategic places on our sites. We and our advertisers have a strategic interest in knowing how people use our site. Advertising support is needed in order for us to provide you with quality services.

In a few limited areas of the site, such as the book store, or registration for conferences, we ask you to provide credit card information to complete transactions. This information is kept offline in corporate files that are not connected to the internet. We use this information solely to verify credit and to complete transactions. We do not release credit card information.

2. Completion of the demographic questions are also optional, but we encourage you to complete them. They are designed to explore your industry association. The better we know who is using our sites, the better we can channel content to you that meets your needs.

Who has access to my personally identifiable information?
Watt Publishing staff use information that we collect to make your visit more productive and tailored to your individual preferences or to process your requests.

We share information, both personally identifiable and aggregate data, with companies in the industries to which you belong who provide content to portions of our site and communicate with you using our services. They are given limited and restricted access to our secure database. They receive information only if you visit their site via WattNet and choose to sign up for one of the related services, purchase their products, or give your consent for information to be sent to you.

Occasionally, email will be sent to you from third parties whom we determine have products or services that interest those in your industry.

You may opt out of third party mailings in one of two ways. When you are asked to complete demographic questions upon entering a site for the first time, you have the opportunity to opt out of third party mailings.

Subsequently, you may opt out of third party emails via unsubscribe links included in email received from us or by sending an email to the Site Administrator asking to be removed from our third party mailing lists.

What if I need to change the personal information I previously disclosed?
WattNet provides you with the ability to edit your personal information. Access to this area requires knowledge of your WattNet login information. We encourage you to update and edit their personal information and keep it current.

Who can I contact if I have any questions regarding my privacy?
Initial contact should be made directly to the WattNet Administrator. This privacy policy covers exchanges of personally identifiable information within Watt Publishing Company web sites. Please be sure to check the privacy policies of each site you visit. WattNet is working with our content providers to adopt a uniform set of privacy guidelines.
